ZeroFake

Eliminate photo fraud before it starts

Cryptographic proof of authenticity, sealed into every photo before it's shared. Every photo your organisation receives can be verified as real, unmodified, and taken on a genuine device.

No more guessing. No more AI detection tools that get it wrong. Just certainty.

Why detection is unsustainable

Some services claim to detect AI-generated images. But detection is a fundamentally flawed approach, and the gap only widens as AI advances.

The detection approach

  • An arms race you can't win. Every new AI model resets the playing field. Detectors are always one step behind.

  • Probabilistic, not definitive. You get a confidence score, not a real answer. Is 73% "probably fake" enough to reject a claim?

  • False positives create real harm. Genuine photos flagged as AI-generated means denied claims, killed stories, and frustrated customers.

  • False negatives are invisible. You'll never know which fakes slipped through, and neither will the detector.

The provenance approach

  • Authenticity at the source. Evidence is captured when the photo is taken, and the photo is sealed with proof before it's shared. Not analysed after the fact.

  • Cryptographic, not probabilistic. A photo is signed or it isn't. There's no confidence score, just certainty.

  • Camera only. No exceptions. Photos can only be created with a verified device camera. No generation, no modification, no uploads.

  • Anchored in Apple's closed ecosystem. Apple App Attest verifies every signing device is a genuine iPhone running an unmodified app. To fake a ZeroFake photo, you'd first have to defeat Apple's hardware and software security.

  • A certificate of authenticity. Like provenance in the art world. You don't detect forgeries by staring harder. You trace the origin.

AI can fake pixels. But it can't fake encryption keys it simply does not have.

Who needs ZeroFake?

Any organisation that relies on photos as evidence, proof, or documentation.

Insurance & Claims

Photo fraud costs the insurance industry billions every year. With ZeroFake, every claim photo has cryptographic proof of when, where, and on what device it was taken. No Photoshop. No AI generation. No reuse of old photos.

Journalism & Media

Give the public a way to submit verified photos you can trust. When someone cries "fake news", have the cryptographic proof to back your reporting. ZeroFake uses the same C2PA standard already being adopted by the BBC, AP, and major newsrooms.

Online Marketplaces

Verified product photos that buyers can trust. Reduce listing fraud and build confidence in your marketplace with photos that prove the item is real and photographed by the seller.

Legal & Compliance

As AI-generated imagery becomes mainstream, defence teams will increasingly challenge the authenticity of photographic evidence. ZeroFake provides tamper-evident records with a cryptographic audit trail, giving your evidence the foundation it needs to hold up under scrutiny, both now and into the future.

Built for compliance and auditability

ZeroFake is built on open standards and cryptographic infrastructure that your security and compliance teams can verify independently.

C2PA Level 1 conformant

The open standard behind Content Credentials, adopted by Adobe, Google, Microsoft, the BBC, and major news agencies

ES256 cryptographic signing

ECDSA P-256 with SSL.com production certificate

Apple App Attest

Device verification. Only genuine iPhones can sign.

Photos stay on the device

Only a cryptographic hash leaves the phone for signing. No image data touches our servers.

Tell us about your use case

We're working with early partners across insurance, media, marketplaces, and legal. If your organisation deals with photo trust, we'd like to hear from you.
